What we do
For many people, personal wellbeing involves a commitment with a professional that you start without knowing how long it will take, or how much it will end up costing. We offer a different approach, a counselling service to individuals and groups of people in a format designed to provide effective solutions in a short time, typically one session. We give you our knowledge so we can be unnecessary for you as soon as possible. That is our measure of success.
As we go through life we learn many things… at a price. A sketchy choice of romantic partner may cost us 20 years and a lot of headaches. Personal relationships, career choices, family matters, unhealthy habits, dependence, guilt, indecision… We pay for those lessons not only with time but also with money, consequences that will never go away or -perhaps the highest cost- the better life that we will never have because we didn’t know better at the time.
We help to understand our decisions and their ramifications, what should we do different if we want different results, and how exactly to do it. We help you to learn those life lessons without needing to pay with your life for it. This is, in simple terms, what we do.
If it is not yourself but somebody else that could benefit from this, we offer gifted sessions. Keep in mind that we will need the acceptance of that person. You can also be present during that session for support if the person agrees.
Additionally, we have always dedicated a part of our work to the public good, admittedly with mixed results. Learning from experience, it seems a better idea to invest those efforts in an interaction which is easier to access for those who want to invest a bit of their time in themselves free of charge, or share with others in meaningful conversations. If this is your case, you may find our blog section rather interesting.
What we do
In order to keep realistic expectations about what we can achieve, it is important to consider the following.
We do not work in life-threatening situations or emergencies. Those moments are not usually for finding meaningful solutions but to make it through the day, and also online may not be the best format for it.
We do not do online psychotherapy. We do not accomplish four months of therapy in one day. We can help a person to find clarity, figure out what to do, but the work still has to be done after our session.
We can give you a solution, but you choose what to do with. We can make things easier, we can walk with you, but we can’t walk for you. If you want to get there, you have to choose it. We can’t do that for you because we shall always respect your free will.
And finally. We don’t forget about you once the session is done. There is only so much time but, depending on the case, we can set up a follow-up brief session to clear questions that may have appeared, or check how things are doing. From mutual respect of each other’s time and without bolstering dependence, but we are here.
